毎年春と秋になると、上空を飛ぶカナダヅルの声が聞こえます。四月のカナダヅルの声は冬の終わりを告げ、九月には冬が近いことを知らせます。カリフォルニア北部からアラスカの北極圏へと移動する間、短い時は一日、長い時は数週間、毎年同じ場所で羽を休めながら移動します。

Todas las primaveras y otoños, el aire de la mañana se llena de la ancestral y primitiva llamada de la grulla canadiense. Los lugareños saben que al escuchar este sonido en abril, el invierno ya ha terminado. Y cuando lo oyen en septiembre, es que se acerca el invierno. Las grullas migran a lo largo de una travesía desde el norte de California hasta el Ártico de Alaska, y todos los años se detienen en el mismo punto, durante un día, una semana o más tiempo.

Every spring and fall, the morning air fills with the ancient and primal call of the Sandhill Crane. The locals know that when they hear this sound in April, winter is gone. And when they hear it in September, winter is not far off. The cranes migrate along a corridor from Northern California to the Alaskan Arctic, stopping over for a day or a week or more at the same stopover points each year. Photographer: Sean Neilson
