Harbor seals haul out on icebergs in great numbers in Glacier Bay. However, in recent years the harbor seal population in Glacier Bay has declined precipitously. Researchers studying the decline are investigating possible reasons such as changes in habitat, human disturbance, disease, emigration and increased predation from killer whales, Steller sea lions or perhaps sharks.
