Glacier Bay is a land of superlatives and extremes. The Arctic Tern fits in well here. Perhaps no bird migrates further. These graceful and efficient fliers migrate all the way from Antarctica to their Arctic breeding grounds, a 24,000-mile roundtrip. They nest here and are often seen flying about with fish in their bills as they return to nests or seek mates. This one is working the tide line and is reflected in the calm and protected waters of Queen Inlet. Photographer: Sean Neilson
