Kayakers being dropped off by the day tour boat in the West Arm of Glacier Bay. Passengers on the boat tend to crowd the upper deck to see the brave adventurers – or more realistically, the reckless and foolhardy individuals – who decide to explore the park in a fiberglass kayak, a flimsy tent and hopefully enough dry clothes to last through days of rain. But at least we got that waterproof map. Photographer: Tom Bergman
