After the Raven and Eagle poles were erected in 2017, the Healing pole was raised next. Before it was in place there was a time when I was able photograph sections of it from close range. The pole has checked (cracked) as the wood had dried out. This is expected to happen. The carvers simply work around these checks, some of which are there during the carving process, while others develop over time. Here the colors of the pole are at their brightest before any weathering has occurred. Photographer: Sean Neilson
