This cove is a good anchorage on the outer coast, but it is very difficult to thread the elongated entrance into the cove. And every year the glacially fed river that empties nearby fills the entrance with more and more silt. Winter storm waves move the silt and change the shallow channel. 40 years ago fishing boats regularly used this cove as safe harbor, but today the entrance is so shallow and shifting it is only used by adventurous captains with small, shallow draft boats at high tide.
