Ice, land. The transition. On a glacier hike there is this moment when your normal world changes. All your life you live on land, maybe sometimes in a boat. But most of us spend our lives with our feet on terra firma. When you step on glacier ice you know right away it is different. No tree roots here. And every sunny day the icy surface you walk on sublimates, evaporates and simply slips away beneath your feet. Photographer: Bill Eichenlaub
