Si es capaz de abrirse camino por encima de los 1.000 pies en Glacier Bay, encontrará un mundo completamente distinto al del nivel del mar. No es una caminata fácil, no hay senderos. Tendrá que trepar por rocas y atravesar densos arbustos para llegar a este lugar; pero una vez que llega, será gratamente recompensado. Aquí arriba, existe un mundo diferente de flores silvestres, arbustos y árboles. En este lugar, un prado subalpino cobija un pequeño lago de montaña del color del té. Muy bien protegido, en un día tranquilo el agua de este lago está tan quieta como las piedras parcialmente sumergidas en él.

If you are able to find your way above 1,000 feet or more in Glacier Bay, you will find a different world from the one down at sea level. It is not an easy walk, with no trails. You have to scramble up rock and through dense brush to make it here, but once you are there, you are aptly rewarded. Up here a different world of wildflowers, shrubs and trees persists. Here, a sub-alpine meadow nestles a tarn the color of tea. Well protected on a calm day, the water is as still as the stones partially submerged in it. Photographer: Sean Neilson
